Deciphering the oracle bone script plays a significant role in Chinese archaeology and philology. However, it is significantly challenging due to the scarcity of oracle character images. To overcome this issue, we propose Diff-Oracle, based on diffusion models (DMs), to generate sufficient controllable oracle characters. In contrast to most DMs that rely on text prompts, we incorporate a style encoder to control style information during the generation process. This encoder extracts style prompts from existing oracle character images, where style details are converted from a CLIP model into a text embedding format. Inspired by ControlNet, we introduce a content encoder to capture desired content information from content images, ensuring the fidelity of character glyphs. To train Diff-Oracle effectively, we propose to obtain pixel-level paired oracle character images (i.e., style and content images) by a pre-trained image-to-image translation model. Extensive qualitative and quantitative experiments conducted on two benchmark datasets, Oracle-241 and OBC306, demonstrate that our Diff-Oracle outperforms existing generative methods in terms of image generation, further enhancing recognition accuracy. Source codes will be available.
Spectral Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) have achieved tremendous success in graph machine learning, with polynomial filters applied for graph convolutions, where all nodes share the identical filter weights to mine their local contexts. Despite the success, existing spectral GNNs usually fail to deal with complex networks (e.g., WWW) due to such homogeneous spectral filtering setting that ignores the regional heterogeneity as typically seen in real-world networks. To tackle this issue, we propose a novel diverse spectral filtering (DSF) framework, which automatically learns node-specific filter weights to exploit the varying local structure properly. Particularly, the diverse filter weights consist of two components -- A global one shared among all nodes, and a local one that varies along network edges to reflect node difference arising from distinct graph parts -- to balance between local and global information. As such, not only can the global graph characteristics be captured, but also the diverse local patterns can be mined with awareness of different node positions. Interestingly, we formulate a novel optimization problem to assist in learning diverse filters, which also enables us to enhance any spectral GNNs with our DSF framework. We showcase the proposed framework on three state-of-the-arts including GPR-GNN, BernNet, and JacobiConv. Extensive experiments over 10 benchmark datasets demonstrate that our framework can consistently boost model performance by up to 4.92% in node classification tasks, producing diverse filters with enhanced interpretability. With the explosive 3D data growth, the urgency of utilizing zero-shot learning to facilitate data labeling becomes evident. Recently, the methods via transferring Contrastive Language-Image Pre-training (CLIP) to 3D vision have made great progress in the 3D zero-shot classification task. However, these methods primarily focus on aligned pose 3D objects (ap-3os), overlooking the recognition of 3D objects with open poses (op-3os) typically encountered in real-world scenarios, such as an overturned chair or a lying teddy bear. To this end, we propose a more challenging benchmark for 3D open-pose zero-shot classification. Echoing our benchmark, we design a concise angle-refinement mechanism that automatically optimizes one ideal pose as well as classifies these op-3os. Furthermore, we make a first attempt to bridge 2D pre-trained diffusion model as a classifer to 3D zero-shot classification without any additional training. Such 2D diffusion to 3D objects proves vital in improving zero-shot classification for both ap-3os and op-3os. Our model notably improves by 3.5% and 15.8% on ModelNet10$^{\ddag}$ and McGill$^{\ddag}$ open pose benchmarks, respectively, and surpasses the current state-of-the-art by 6.8% on the aligned pose ModelNet10, affirming diffusion's efficacy in 3D zero-shot tasks.
Sequential recommendation (SR) models are typically trained on user-item interactions which are affected by the system exposure bias, leading to the user preference learned from the biased SR model not being fully consistent with the true user preference. Exposure bias refers to the fact that user interactions are dependent upon the partial items exposed to the user. Existing debiasing methods do not make full use of the system exposure data and suffer from sub-optimal recommendation performance and high variance. In this paper, we propose to debias sequential recommenders through Distributionally Robust Optimization (DRO) over system exposure data. The key idea is to utilize DRO to optimize the worst-case error over an uncertainty set to safeguard the model against distributional discrepancy caused by the exposure bias. The main challenge to apply DRO for exposure debiasing in SR lies in how to construct the uncertainty set and avoid the overestimation of user preference on biased samples. Moreover, how to evaluate the debiasing effect on biased test set is also an open question. To this end, we first introduce an exposure simulator trained upon the system exposure data to calculate the exposure distribution, which is then regarded as the nominal distribution to construct the uncertainty set of DRO. Then, we introduce a penalty to items with high exposure probability to avoid the overestimation of user preference for biased samples. Finally, we design a debiased self-normalized inverse propensity score (SNIPS) evaluator for evaluating the debiasing effect on the biased offline test set. We conduct extensive experiments on two real-world datasets to verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods. Experimental results demonstrate the superior exposure debiasing performance of proposed methods. Codes and data are available at \url{https://github.com/nancheng58/DebiasedSR_DRO}.
Movable antenna (MA) is a new technology with great potential to improve communication performance by enabling local movement of antennas for pursuing better channel conditions. In particular, the acquisition of complete channel state information (CSI) between the transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx) regions is an essential problem for MA systems to reap performance gains. In this paper, we propose a general channel estimation framework for MA systems by exploiting the multi-path field response channel structure. Specifically, the angles of departure (AoDs), angles of arrival (AoAs), and complex coefficients of the multi-path components (MPCs) are jointly estimated by employing the compressed sensing method, based on multiple channel measurements at designated positions of the Tx-MA and Rx-MA. Under this framework, the Tx-MA and Rx-MA measurement positions fundamentally determine the measurement matrix for compressed sensing, of which the mutual coherence is analyzed from the perspective of Fourier transform. Moreover, two criteria for MA measurement positions are provided to guarantee the successful recovery of MPCs. Then, we propose several MA measurement position setups and compare their performance. Finally, comprehensive simulation results show that the proposed framework is able to estimate the complete CSI between the Tx and Rx regions with a high accuracy.
While traditional electromagnetic stealth materials/metasurfaces can render a target virtually invisible to some extent, they lack flexibility and adaptability, and can only operate within a limited frequency and angle/direction range, making it challenging to ensure the expected stealth performance. In view of this, we propose in this paper a new intelligent reflecting surface (IRS)-aided electromagnetic stealth system mounted on targets to evade radar detection, by utilizing the tunable passive reflecting elements of IRS to achieve flexible and adaptive electromagnetic stealth in a cost-effective manner. Specifically, we optimize the IRS's reflection at the target to minimize the sum received signal power of all adversary radars. We first address the IRS's reflection optimization problem using the Lagrange multiplier method and derive a semi-closed-form optimal solution for the single-radar setup, which is then generalized to the multi-radar case. To meet real-time processing requirements, we further propose low-complexity closed-form solutions based on the reverse alignment/cancellation and minimum mean-square error (MMSE) criteria for the single-radar and multi-radar cases, respectively. Additionally, we propose practical low-complexity estimation schemes at the target to acquire angle-of-arrival (AoA) and/or path gain information via a small number of receive sensing devices. Simulation results validate the performance advantages of our proposed IRS-aided electromagnetic stealth system with the proposed IRS reflection designs.
Prompt tuning represents a valuable technique for adapting pre-trained visual-language models (VLM) to various downstream tasks. Recent advancements in CoOp-based methods propose a set of learnable domain-shared or image-conditional textual tokens to facilitate the generation of task-specific textual classifiers. However, those textual tokens have a limited generalization ability regarding unseen domains, as they cannot dynamically adjust to the distribution of testing classes. To tackle this issue, we present a novel Textual-based Class-aware Prompt tuning(TCP) that explicitly incorporates prior knowledge about classes to enhance their discriminability. The critical concept of TCP involves leveraging Textual Knowledge Embedding (TKE) to map the high generalizability of class-level textual knowledge into class-aware textual tokens. By seamlessly integrating these class-aware prompts into the Text Encoder, a dynamic class-aware classifier is generated to enhance discriminability for unseen domains. During inference, TKE dynamically generates class-aware prompts related to the unseen classes. Comprehensive evaluations demonstrate that TKE serves as a plug-and-play module effortlessly combinable with existing methods. Furthermore, TCP consistently achieves superior performance while demanding less training time.
Neural operators have been explored as surrogate models for simulating physical systems to overcome the limitations of traditional partial differential equation (PDE) solvers. However, most existing operator learning methods assume that the data originate from a single physical mechanism, limiting their applicability and performance in more realistic scenarios. To this end, we propose Physical Invariant Attention Neural Operator (PIANO) to decipher and integrate the physical invariants (PI) for operator learning from the PDE series with various physical mechanisms. PIANO employs self-supervised learning to extract physical knowledge and attention mechanisms to integrate them into dynamic convolutional layers. Compared to existing techniques, PIANO can reduce the relative error by 13.6\%-82.2\% on PDE forecasting tasks across varying coefficients, forces, or boundary conditions. Additionally, varied downstream tasks reveal that the PI embeddings deciphered by PIANO align well with the underlying invariants in the PDE systems, verifying the physical significance of PIANO. The source code will be publicly available at: https://github.com/optray/PIANO.
