Ball recognition and tracking have traditionally been the main focus of computer vision researchers as a crucial component of sports video analysis. The difficulties, such as the small ball size, blurry appearance, quick movements, and so on, prevent many classic methods from performing well on ball detection and tracking. In this paper, we present a method for detecting and tracking badminton balls. According to the characteristics of different ball speeds, two trajectory clip trackers are designed based on different rules to capture the correct trajectory of the ball. Meanwhile, combining contextual information, two rounds of detection from coarse-grained to fine-grained are used to solve the challenges encountered in badminton detection. The experimental results show that the precision, recall, and F1-measure of our method, reach 100%, 72.6% and 84.1% with the data without occlusion, respectively.
A novel learning solution to image steganalysis based on the green learning paradigm, called Green Steganalyzer (GS), is proposed in this work. GS consists of three modules: 1) pixel-based anomaly prediction, 2) embedding location detection, and 3) decision fusion for image-level detection. In the first module, GS decomposes an image into patches, adopts Saab transforms for feature extraction, and conducts self-supervised learning to predict an anomaly score of their center pixel. In the second module, GS analyzes the anomaly scores of a pixel and its neighborhood to find pixels of higher embedding probabilities. In the third module, GS focuses on pixels of higher embedding probabilities and fuses their anomaly scores to make final image-level classification. Compared with state-of-the-art deep-learning models, GS achieves comparable detection performance against S-UNIWARD, WOW and HILL steganography schemes with significantly lower computational complexity and a smaller model size, making it attractive for mobile/edge applications. Furthermore, GS is mathematically transparent because of its modular design.
Document-level multi-event extraction aims to extract the structural information from a given document automatically. Most recent approaches usually involve two steps: (1) modeling entity interactions; (2) decoding entity interactions into events. However, such approaches ignore a global view of inter-dependency of multiple events. Moreover, an event is decoded by iteratively merging its related entities as arguments, which might suffer from error propagation and is computationally inefficient. In this paper, we propose an alternative approach for document-level multi-event extraction with event proxy nodes and Hausdorff distance minimization. The event proxy nodes, representing pseudo-events, are able to build connections with other event proxy nodes, essentially capturing global information. The Hausdorff distance makes it possible to compare the similarity between the set of predicted events and the set of ground-truth events. By directly minimizing Hausdorff distance, the model is trained towards the global optimum directly, which improves performance and reduces training time. Experimental results show that our model outperforms previous state-of-the-art method in F1-score on two datasets with only a fraction of training time.
Reinforcement learning (RL) agents are known to be vulnerable to evasion attacks during deployment. In single-agent environments, attackers can inject imperceptible perturbations on the policy or value network's inputs or outputs; in multi-agent environments, attackers can control an adversarial opponent to indirectly influence the victim's observation. Adversarial policies offer a promising solution to craft such attacks. Still, current approaches either require perfect or partial knowledge of the victim policy or suffer from sample inefficiency due to the sparsity of task-related rewards. To overcome these limitations, we propose the Intrinsically Motivated Adversarial Policy (IMAP) for efficient black-box evasion attacks in single- and multi-agent environments without any knowledge of the victim policy. IMAP uses four intrinsic objectives based on state coverage, policy coverage, risk, and policy divergence to encourage exploration and discover stronger attacking skills. We also design a novel Bias-Reduction (BR) method to boost IMAP further. Our experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of these intrinsic objectives and BR in improving adversarial policy learning in the black-box setting against multiple types of victim agents in various single- and multi-agent MuJoCo environments. Notably, our IMAP reduces the performance of the state-of-the-art robust WocaR-PPO agents by 34\%-54\% and achieves a SOTA attacking success rate of 83.91\% in the two-player zero-sum game YouShallNotPass.
With the rapid development of autonomous driving, the attention of academia has increasingly focused on the development of anti-collision systems in emergency scenarios, which have a crucial impact on driving safety. While numerous anti-collision strategies have emerged in recent years, most of them only consider steering or braking. The dynamic and complex nature of the driving environment presents a challenge to developing robust collision avoidance algorithms in emergency scenarios. To address the complex, dynamic obstacle scene and improve lateral maneuverability, this paper establishes a multi-level decision-making obstacle avoidance framework that employs the safe distance model and integrates emergency steering and emergency braking to complete the obstacle avoidance process. This approach helps avoid the high-risk situation of vehicle instability that can result from the separation of steering and braking actions. In the emergency steering algorithm, we define the collision hazard moment and propose a multi-constraint dynamic collision avoidance planning method that considers the driving area. Simulation results demonstrate that the decision-making collision avoidance logic can be applied to dynamic collision avoidance scenarios in complex traffic situations, effectively completing the obstacle avoidance task in emergency scenarios and improving the safety of autonomous driving.
Temporal graphs exhibit dynamic interactions between nodes over continuous time, whose topologies evolve with time elapsing. The whole temporal neighborhood of nodes reveals the varying preferences of nodes. However, previous works usually generate dynamic representation with limited neighbors for simplicity, which results in both inferior performance and high latency of online inference. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a novel method of temporal graph convolution with the whole neighborhood, namely Temporal Aggregation and Propagation Graph Neural Networks (TAP-GNN). Specifically, we firstly analyze the computational complexity of the dynamic representation problem by unfolding the temporal graph in a message-passing paradigm. The expensive complexity motivates us to design the AP (aggregation and propagation) block, which significantly reduces the repeated computation of historical neighbors. The final TAP-GNN supports online inference in the graph stream scenario, which incorporates the temporal information into node embeddings with a temporal activation function and a projection layer besides several AP blocks. Experimental results on various real-life temporal networks show that our proposed TAP-GNN outperforms existing temporal graph methods by a large margin in terms of both predictive performance and online inference latency. Researchers of temporal networks (e.g., social networks and transaction networks) have been interested in mining dynamic patterns of nodes from their diverse interactions. Inspired by recently powerful graph mining methods like skip-gram models and Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), existing approaches focus on generating temporal node embeddings sequentially with nodes' sequential interactions. However, the sequential modeling of previous approaches cannot handle the transition structure between nodes' neighbors with limited memorization capacity. Detailedly, an effective method for the transition structures is required to both model nodes' personalized patterns adaptively and capture node dynamics accordingly. In this paper, we propose a method, namely Transition Propagation Graph Neural Networks (TIP-GNN), to tackle the challenges of encoding nodes' transition structures. The proposed TIP-GNN focuses on the bilevel graph structure in temporal networks: besides the explicit interaction graph, a node's sequential interactions can also be constructed as a transition graph. Based on the bilevel graph, TIP-GNN further encodes transition structures by multi-step transition propagation and distills information from neighborhoods by a bilevel graph convolution. Experimental results over various temporal networks reveal the efficiency of our TIP-GNN, with at most 7.2\% improvements of accuracy on temporal link prediction. Hyperspectral anomaly detection (HAD) involves identifying the targets that deviate spectrally from their surroundings, without prior knowledge. Recently, deep learning based methods have become the mainstream HAD methods, due to their powerful spatial-spectral feature extraction ability. However, the current deep detection models are optimized to complete a proxy task (two-step paradigm), such as background reconstruction or generation, rather than achieving anomaly detection directly. This leads to suboptimal results and poor transferability, which means that the deep model is trained and tested on the same image. In this paper, an unsupervised transferred direct detection (TDD) model is proposed, which is optimized directly for the anomaly detection task (one-step paradigm) and has transferability. Specially, the TDD model is optimized to identify the spectral deviation relationship according to the anomaly definition. Compared to learning the specific background distribution as most models do, the spectral deviation relationship is universal for different images and guarantees the model transferability. To train the TDD model in an unsupervised manner, an anomaly sample simulation strategy is proposed to generate numerous pairs of anomaly samples. Furthermore, a global self-attention module and a local self-attention module are designed to help the model focus on the "spectrally deviating" relationship. The TDD model was validated on four public HAD datasets. The results show that the proposed TDD model can successfully overcome the limitation of traditional model training and testing on a single image, and the model has a powerful detection ability and excellent transferability.
Anomaly segmentation in high spatial resolution (HSR) remote sensing imagery is aimed at segmenting anomaly patterns of the earth deviating from normal patterns, which plays an important role in various Earth vision applications. However, it is a challenging task due to the complex distribution and the irregular shapes of objects, and the lack of abnormal samples. To tackle these problems, an anomaly segmentation model based on pixel descriptors (ASD) is proposed for anomaly segmentation in HSR imagery. Specifically, deep one-class classification is introduced for anomaly segmentation in the feature space with discriminative pixel descriptors. The ASD model incorporates the data argument for generating virtual ab-normal samples, which can force the pixel descriptors to be compact for normal data and meanwhile to be diverse to avoid the model collapse problems when only positive samples participated in the training. In addition, the ASD introduced a multi-level and multi-scale feature extraction strategy for learning the low-level and semantic information to make the pixel descriptors feature-rich. The proposed ASD model was validated using four HSR datasets and compared with the recent state-of-the-art models, showing its potential value in Earth vision applications.
End-to-end scene text spotting has made significant progress due to its intrinsic synergy between text detection and recognition. Previous methods commonly regard manual annotations such as horizontal rectangles, rotated rectangles, quadrangles,and polygons as a prerequisite, which are much more expensive than using single-point. For the first time, we demonstrate that training scene text spotting models can be achieved with an extremely low-cost single-point annotation by the proposed framework, termed SPTS v2. SPTS v2 reserves the advantage of the auto-regressive Transformer with an Instance Assignment Decoder (IAD) through sequentially predicting the center points of all text instances inside the same predicting sequence, while with a Parallel Recognition Decoder (PRD) for text recognition in parallel. These two decoders share the same parameters and are interactively connected with a simple but effective information transmission process to pass the gradient and information. Comprehensive experiments on various existing benchmark datasets demonstrate the SPTS v2 can outperform previous state-of-the-art single-point text spotters with fewer parameters while achieving 14x faster inference speed. Most importantly, within the scope of our SPTS v2, extensive experiments further reveal an important phenomenon that single-point serves as the optimal setting for the scene text spotting compared to non-point, rectangular bounding box, and polygonal bounding box. Such an attempt provides a significant opportunity for scene text spotting applications beyond the realms of existing paradigms. Code is available at https://github.com/shannanyinxiang/SPTS.
