This work introduces EduEVAL-DB, a dataset based on teacher roles designed to support the evaluation and training of automatic pedagogical evaluators and AI tutors for instructional explanations. The dataset comprises 854 explanations corresponding to 139 questions from a curated subset of the ScienceQA benchmark, spanning science, language, and social science across K-12 grade levels. For each question, one human-teacher explanation is provided and six are generated by LLM-simulated teacher roles. These roles are inspired by instructional styles and shortcomings observed in real educational practice and are instantiated via prompt engineering. We further propose a pedagogical risk rubric aligned with established educational standards, operationalizing five complementary risk dimensions: factual correctness, explanatory depth and completeness, focus and relevance, student-level appropriateness, and ideological bias. All explanations are annotated with binary risk labels through a semi-automatic process with expert teacher review. Finally, we present preliminary validation experiments to assess the suitability of EduEVAL-DB for evaluation. We benchmark a state-of-the-art education-oriented model (Gemini 2.5 Pro) against a lightweight local Llama 3.1 8B model and examine whether supervised fine-tuning on EduEVAL-DB supports pedagogical risk detection using models deployable on consumer hardware.
This paper presents the NTIRE 2026 image super-resolution ($\times$4) challenge, one of the associated competitions of the NTIRE 2026 Workshop at CVPR 2026. The challenge aims to reconstruct high-resolution (HR) images from low-resolution (LR) inputs generated through bicubic downsampling with a $\times$4 scaling factor. The objective is to develop effective super-resolution solutions and analyze recent advances in the field. To reflect the evolving objectives of image super-resolution, the challenge includes two tracks: (1) a restoration track, which emphasizes pixel-wise fidelity and ranks submissions based on PSNR; and (2) a perceptual track, which focuses on visual realism and evaluates results using a perceptual score. A total of 194 participants registered for the challenge, with 31 teams submitting valid entries. This report summarizes the challenge design, datasets, evaluation protocol, main results, and methods of participating teams. The challenge provides a unified benchmark and offers insights into current progress and future directions in image super-resolution.
Automatically verifying climate-related claims against scientific literature is a challenging task, complicated by the specialised nature of scholarly evidence and the diversity of rhetorical strategies underlying climate disinformation. ClimateCheck 2026 is the second iteration of a shared task addressing this challenge, expanding on the 2025 edition with tripled training data and a new disinformation narrative classification task. Running from January to February 2026 on the CodaBench platform, the competition attracted 20 registered participants and 8 leaderboard submissions, with systems combining dense retrieval pipelines, cross-encoder ensembles, and large language models with structured hierarchical reasoning. In addition to standard evaluation metrics (Recall@K and Binary Preference), we adapt an automated framework to assess retrieval quality under incomplete annotations, exposing systematic biases in how conventional metrics rank systems. A cross-task analysis further reveals that not all climate disinformation is equally verifiable, potentially implicating how future fact-checking systems should be designed.
This paper presents an overview of the NTIRE 2026 Challenge on Robust AI-Generated Image Detection in the Wild, held in conjunction with the NTIRE workshop at CVPR 2026. The goal of this challenge was to develop detection models capable of distinguishing real images from generated ones in realistic scenarios: the images are often transformed (cropped, resized, compressed, blurred) for practical usage, and therefore, the detection models should be robust to such transformations. The challenge is based on a novel dataset consisting of 108,750 real and 185,750 AI-generated images from 42 generators comprising a large variety of open-source and closed-source models of various architectures, augmented with 36 image transformations. Methods were evaluated using ROC AUC on the full test set, including both transformed and untransformed images. A total of 511 participants registered, with 20 teams submitting valid final solutions. This report provides a comprehensive overview of the challenge, describes the proposed solutions, and can be used as a valuable reference for researchers and practitioners in increasing the robustness of the detection models to real-world transformations.
We propose VISTA, a V-JEPA Integrated StillFast Temporal Anticipator for the Ego4D Short-Term Object Interaction Anticipation (STA) Challenge at EgoVis 2026. Given an egocentric video timestamp, the task requires anticipating the next human-object interaction, including the future active object's bounding box, noun category, verb category, time-to-contact, and confidence score. VISTA follows a StillFast-style design that combines object-centric spatial detection with short-horizon temporal context. Specifically, a COCO-pretrained Faster R-CNN ResNet-50 FPN detector generates object proposals from the last observed high-resolution frame, while a frozen V-JEPA 2.1 temporal branch extracts clip-level egocentric context from the observed video. The temporal representation is injected into the detection pathway through feature modulation and ROI-level context fusion. The fused proposal features are then passed to multi-head STA predictors for box refinement, noun classification, verb classification, time-to-contact regression, and interaction confidence estimation. For the final submission, we further ensemble complementary predictions to improve robustness. Experimental results on the official challenge server show that VISTA achieves first place in the EgoVis 2026 Ego4D STA Challenge. Our code will be released at https://github.com/CorrineQiu/VISTA.
The 2026 Formula 1 technical regulations introduce a fundamental change to energy strategy: under a 50/50 internal combustion engine / battery power split with unlimited regeneration and a driver-controlled Override Mode (abbreviated MOM throughout), the optimal energy deployment policy depends not only on a driver's own state but on the hidden state of rival cars. This creates a Partially Observable Stochastic Game that cannot be solved by single-agent optimisation methods. We present a tractable two-layer inference and decision framework. The first layer is a 30-state Hidden Markov Model (HMM) that infers a probability distribution over each rival's ERS charge level, Override Mode status, and tyre degradation state from five publicly observable telemetry signals. The second layer is a Deep Q-Network (DQN) policy that takes the HMM belief state as input and selects between energy deployment strategies. We formally characterise the counter-harvest trap -- a deceptive strategy in which a car deliberately suppresses observable deployment signals to induce a rival into a failed attack -- and show that detecting it requires belief-state inference rather than reactive threshold rules. On synthetic races generated from the model's own assumptions, the HMM achieves 92.3% ERS inference accuracy (random baseline: 33.3%) and detects counter-harvest trap conditions with 95.7% recall. Multimodal speaker identification systems typically assume the availability of complete and homogeneous audio-visual modalities during both training and testing. However, in real-world applications, such assumptions often do not hold. Visual information may be missing due to occlusions, camera failures, or privacy constraints, while multilingual speakers introduce additional complexity due to linguistic variability across languages. These challenges significantly affect the robustness and generalization of multimodal speaker identification systems. The POLY-SIM Grand Challenge 2026 aims to advance research in multimodal speaker identification under missing-modality and cross-lingual conditions. Specifically, the Grand Challenge encourages the development of robust methods that can effectively leverage incomplete multimodal inputs while maintaining strong performance across different languages. This report presents the design and organization of the POLY-SIM Grand Challenge 2026, including the dataset, task formulation, evaluation protocol, and baseline model. By providing a standardized benchmark and evaluation framework, the challenge aims to foster progress toward more robust and practical multimodal speaker identification systems.
This paper presents the NTIRE 2026 Remote Sensing Infrared Image Super-Resolution (x4) Challenge, one of the associated challenges of NTIRE 2026. The challenge aims to recover high-resolution (HR) infrared images from low-resolution (LR) inputs generated through bicubic downsampling with a x4 scaling factor. The objective is to develop effective models or solutions that achieve state-of-the-art performance for infrared image SR in remote sensing scenarios. To reflect the characteristics of infrared data and practical application needs, the challenge adopts a single-track setting. A total of 115 participants registered for the competition, with 13 teams submitting valid entries. This report summarizes the challenge design, dataset, evaluation protocol, main results, and the representative methods of each team. The challenge serves as a benchmark to advance research in infrared image super-resolution and promote the development of effective solutions for real-world remote sensing applications.
Over half of the world's population is bilingual and people often communicate under multilingual scenarios. The Face-Voice Association in Multilingual Environments (FAME) 2026 Challenge, held at ICASSP 2026, focuses on developing methods for face-voice association that are effective when the language at test-time is different than the training one. This report provides a brief summary of the challenge.
This paper presents an overview of the Detection and Classification of Acoustic Scenes and Events (DCASE) 2026 Challenge Task 4, Spatial Semantic Segmentation of Sound Scenes (S5). The S5 task focuses on the joint detection and separation of sound events in complex spatial audio mixtures, contributing to the foundation of immersive communication. First introduced in DCASE 2025, the S5 task continues in DCASE 2026 Task 4 with key changes to better reflect real-world conditions, including allowing mixtures to contain multiple sources of the same class and to contain no target sources. In this paper, we describe task setting, along with the corresponding updates to the evaluation metrics and dataset. The experimental results of the submitted systems are also reported and analyzed.
