The ability of countermeasure models to generalize from seen speech synthesis methods to unseen ones has been investigated in the ASVspoof challenge. However, a new mismatch scenario in which fake audio may be generated from real audio with unseen genres has not been studied thoroughly. To this end, we first use five different vocoders to create a new dataset called CN-Spoof based on the CN-Celeb1\&2 datasets. Then, we design two auxiliary objectives for regularization via meta-optimization and a genre alignment module, respectively, and combine them with the main anti-spoofing objective using learnable weights for multiple loss terms. The results on our cross-genre evaluation dataset for anti-spoofing show that the proposed method significantly improved the generalization ability of the countermeasures compared with the baseline system in the genre mismatch scenario.
Clothes grasping and unfolding is a core step in robotic-assisted dressing. Most existing works leverage depth images of clothes to train a deep learning-based model to recognize suitable grasping points. These methods often utilize physics engines to synthesize depth images to reduce the cost of real labeled data collection. However, the natural domain gap between synthetic and real images often leads to poor performance of these methods on real data. Furthermore, these approaches often struggle in scenarios where grasping points are occluded by the clothing item itself. To address the above challenges, we propose a novel Bi-directional Fractal Cross Fusion Network (BiFCNet) for semantic segmentation, enabling recognition of graspable regions in order to provide more possibilities for grasping. Instead of using depth images only, we also utilize RGB images with rich color features as input to our network in which the Fractal Cross Fusion (FCF) module fuses RGB and depth data by considering global complex features based on fractal geometry. To reduce the cost of real data collection, we further propose a data augmentation method based on an adversarial strategy, in which the color and geometric transformations simultaneously process RGB and depth data while maintaining the label correspondence. Finally, we present a pipeline for clothes grasping and unfolding from the perspective of semantic segmentation, through the addition of a strategy for grasp point selection from segmentation regions based on clothing flatness measures, while taking into account the grasping direction. We evaluate our BiFCNet on the public dataset NYUDv2 and obtained comparable performance to current state-of-the-art models. We also deploy our model on a Baxter robot, running extensive grasping and unfolding experiments as part of our ablation studies, achieving an 84% success rate.
The rapid advancement of quantum computing has led to an extensive demand for effective techniques to extract classical information from quantum systems, particularly in fields like quantum machine learning and quantum chemistry. However, quantum systems are inherently susceptible to noises, which adversely corrupt the information encoded in quantum systems. In this work, we introduce an efficient algorithm that can recover information from quantum states under Pauli noise. The core idea is to learn the necessary information of the unknown Pauli channel by post-processing the classical shadows of the channel. For a local and bounded-degree observable, only partial knowledge of the channel is required rather than its complete classical description to recover the ideal information, resulting in a polynomial-time algorithm. This contrasts with conventional methods such as probabilistic error cancellation, which requires the full information of the channel and exhibits exponential scaling with the number of qubits. We also prove that this scalable method is optimal on the sample complexity and generalise the algorithm to the weight contracting channel. Furthermore, we demonstrate the validity of the algorithm on the 1D anisotropic Heisenberg-type model via numerical simulations. As a notable application, our method can be severed as a sample-efficient error mitigation scheme for Clifford circuits.
Given a small set of images of a specific subject, subject-driven text-to-image generation aims to generate customized images of the subject according to new text descriptions, which has attracted increasing attention in the community recently. Current subject-driven text-to-image generation methods are mainly based on finetuning a pretrained large-scale text-to-image generation model. However, these finetuning methods map the images of the subject into an embedding highly entangled with subject-identity-unrelated information, which may result in the inconsistency between the generated images and the text descriptions and the changes in the subject identity. To tackle the problem, we propose DisenBooth, a disentangled parameter-efficient tuning framework for subject-driven text-to-image generation. DisenBooth enables generating new images that simultaneously preserve the subject identity and conform to the text descriptions, by disentangling the embedding into an identity-related and an identity-unrelated part. Specifically, DisenBooth is based on the pretrained diffusion models and conducts finetuning in the diffusion denoising process, where a shared identity embedding and an image-specific identity-unrelated embedding are utilized jointly for denoising each image. To make the two embeddings disentangled, two auxiliary objectives are proposed. Additionally, to improve the finetuning efficiency, a parameter-efficient finetuning strategy is adopted. Extensive experiments show that our DisenBooth can faithfully learn well-disentangled identity-related and identity-unrelated embeddings. With the shared identity embedding, DisenBooth demonstrates superior subject-driven text-to-image generation ability. Additionally, DisenBooth provides a more flexible and controllable framework with different combinations of the disentangled embeddings.
Click-Through Rate (CTR) prediction is the most critical task in product and content recommendation, and learning effective feature interaction is the key challenge to exploiting user preferences for products. Some recent research works focus on investigating more sophisticated feature interactions based on soft attention or gate mechanism, while some redundant or contradictory feature combinations are still introduced. According to Global Workspace Theory in conscious processing, human clicks on advertisements ``consciously'': only a specific subset of product features are considered, and the rest are not involved in conscious processing. Therefore, we propose a CTR model that \textbf{D}irectly \textbf{E}nhances the embeddings and \textbf{L}everages \textbf{T}runcated Conscious \textbf{A}ttention during feature interaction, termed DELTA, which contains two key components: (I) conscious truncation module (CTM), which utilizes curriculum learning to apply adaptive truncation on attention weights to select the most critical feature combinations; (II) direct embedding enhancement module (DEM), which directly and independently propagates gradient from the loss layer to the embedding layer to enhance the crucial embeddings via linear feature crossing without introducing any extra cost during inference. Extensive experiments on five challenging CTR datasets demonstrate that DELTA achieves cutting-edge performance among current state-of-the-art CTR methods.
This paper introduces JaxPruner, an open-source JAX-based pruning and sparse training library for machine learning research. JaxPruner aims to accelerate research on sparse neural networks by providing concise implementations of popular pruning and sparse training algorithms with minimal memory and latency overhead. Algorithms implemented in JaxPruner use a common API and work seamlessly with the popular optimization library Optax, which, in turn, enables easy integration with existing JAX based libraries. We demonstrate this ease of integration by providing examples in four different codebases: Scenic, t5x, Dopamine and FedJAX and provide baseline experiments on popular benchmarks.
Video super-resolution commonly uses a frame-wise alignment to support the propagation of information over time. The role of alignment is well-studied for low-level enhancement in video, but existing works have overlooked one critical step -- re-sampling. Most works, regardless of how they compensate for motion between frames, be it flow-based warping or deformable convolution/attention, use the default choice of bilinear interpolation for re-sampling. However, bilinear interpolation acts effectively as a low-pass filter and thus hinders the aim of recovering high-frequency content for super-resolution. This paper studies the impact of re-sampling on alignment for video super-resolution. Extensive experiments reveal that for alignment to be effective, the re-sampling should preserve the original sharpness of the features and prevent distortions. From these observations, we propose an implicit alignment method that re-samples through a window-based cross-attention with sampling positions encoded by sinusoidal positional encoding. The re-sampling is implicitly computed by learned network weights. Experiments show that the proposed implicit alignment enhances the performance of state-of-the-art frameworks with minimal impact on both synthetic and real-world datasets.
Neural Architecture Search (NAS) has become a popular method for discovering effective model architectures, especially for target hardware. As such, NAS methods that find optimal architectures under constraints are essential. In our paper, we propose LayerNAS to address the challenge of multi-objective NAS by transforming it into a combinatorial optimization problem, which effectively constrains the search complexity to be polynomial. For a model architecture with $L$ layers, we perform layerwise-search for each layer, selecting from a set of search options $\mathbb{S}$. LayerNAS groups model candidates based on one objective, such as model size or latency, and searches for the optimal model based on another objective, thereby splitting the cost and reward elements of the search. This approach limits the search complexity to $ O(H \cdot |\mathbb{S}| \cdot L) $, where $H$ is a constant set in LayerNAS. Our experiments show that LayerNAS is able to consistently discover superior models across a variety of search spaces in comparison to strong baselines, including search spaces derived from NATS-Bench, MobileNetV2 and MobileNetV3.
