Entity interaction prediction is essential in many important applications such as chemistry, biology, material science, and medical science. The problem becomes quite challenging when each entity is represented by a complex structure, namely structured entity, because two types of graphs are involved: local graphs for structured entities and a global graph to capture the interactions between structured entities. We observe that existing works on structured entity interaction prediction cannot properly exploit the unique graph of graphs model. In this paper, we propose a Graph of Graphs Neural Network, namely GoGNN, which extracts the features in both structured entity graphs and the entity interaction graph in a hierarchical way. We also propose the dual-attention mechanism that enables the model to preserve the neighbor importance in both levels of graphs. Extensive experiments on real-world datasets show that GoGNN outperforms the state-of-the-art methods on two representative structured entity interaction prediction tasks: chemical-chemical interaction prediction and drug-drug interaction prediction. Graph database has enjoyed a boom in the last decade, and graph queries accordingly gain a lot of attentions from both the academia and industry. We focus on analytical queries in this paper. While analyzing existing domain-specific languages (DSLs) for analytical queries regarding the perspectives of completeness, expressiveness and programmability, we find out that none of existing work has achieved a satisfactory coverage of these perspectives. Motivated by this, we propose the \flash DSL, which is named after the three primitive operators Filter, LocAl and PuSH. We prove that \flash is Turing complete (completeness), and show that it achieves both good expressiveness and programmability for analytical queries. We provide an implementation of \flash based on code generation, and compare it with native C++ codes and existing DSL using representative queries. The experiment results demonstrate \flash's expressiveness, and its capability of programming complex algorithms that achieve satisfactory runtime.
Recently, there have been some breakthroughs in graph analysis by applying the graph neural networks (GNNs) following a neighborhood aggregation scheme, which demonstrate outstanding performance in many tasks. However, we observe that the parameters of the network and the embedding of nodes are represented in real-valued matrices in existing GNN-based graph embedding approaches which may limit the efficiency and scalability of these models. It is well-known that binary vector is usually much more space and time efficient than the real-valued vector. This motivates us to develop a binarized graph neural network to learn the binary representations of the nodes with binary network parameters following the GNN-based paradigm. Our proposed method can be seamlessly integrated into the existing GNN-based embedding approaches to binarize the model parameters and learn the compact embedding. Extensive experiments indicate that the proposed binarized graph neural network, namely BGN, is orders of magnitude more efficient in terms of both time and space while matching the state-of-the-art performance.
Entity alignment (EA) identifies entities that refer to the same real-world object but locate in different knowledge graphs (KGs), and has been harnessed for KG construction and integration. When generating EA results, current embedding-based solutions treat entities independently and fail to take into account the interdependence between entities. In addition, most of embedding-based EA methods either fuse different features on representation-level and generate unified entity embedding for alignment, which potentially causes information loss, or aggregate features on outcome-level with hand-tuned weights, which is not practical with increasing numbers of features. To tackle these deficiencies, we propose a collective embedding-based EA framework with adaptive feature fusion mechanism. We first employ three representative features, i.e., structural, semantic and string signals, for capturing different aspects of the similarity between entities in heterogeneous KGs. These features are then integrated at outcome-level, with dynamically assigned weights generated by our carefully devised adaptive feature fusion strategy. Eventually, in order to make collective EA decisions, we formulate EA as the classical stable matching problem between entities to be aligned, with preference lists constructed using fused feature matrix. It is further effectively solved by deferred acceptance algorithm. Our proposal is evaluated on both cross-lingual and mono-lingual EA benchmarks against state-of-the-art solutions, and the empirical results verify its effectiveness and superiority. We also perform ablation study to gain insights into framework modules.
Given a query photo issued by a user (q-user), the landmark retrieval is to return a set of photos with their landmarks similar to those of the query, while the existing studies on the landmark retrieval focus on exploiting geometries of landmarks for similarity matches between candidate photos and a query photo. We observe that the same landmarks provided by different users over social media community may convey different geometry information depending on the viewpoints and/or angles, and may subsequently yield very different results. In fact, dealing with the landmarks with \illshapes caused by the photography of q-users is often nontrivial and has seldom been studied. In this paper we propose a novel framework, namely multi-query expansions, to retrieve semantically robust landmarks by two steps. Firstly, we identify the top-$k$ photos regarding the latent topics of a query landmark to construct multi-query set so as to remedy its possible \illshape. For this purpose, we significantly extend the techniques of Latent Dirichlet Allocation. Then, motivated by the typical \emph{collaborative filtering} methods, we propose to learn a \emph{collaborative} deep networks based semantically, nonlinear and high-level features over the latent factor for landmark photo as the training set, which is formed by matrix factorization over \emph{collaborative} user-photo matrix regarding the multi-query set. The learned deep network is further applied to generate the features for all the other photos, meanwhile resulting into a compact multi-query set within such space. Extensive experiments are conducted on real-world social media data with both landmark photos together with their user information to show the superior performance over the existing methods.
Multi-view spectral clustering, which aims at yielding an agreement or consensus data objects grouping across multi-views with their graph laplacian matrices, is a fundamental clustering problem. Among the existing methods, Low-Rank Representation (LRR) based method is quite superior in terms of its effectiveness, intuitiveness and robustness to noise corruptions. However, it aggressively tries to learn a common low-dimensional subspace for multi-view data, while inattentively ignoring the local manifold structure in each view, which is critically important to the spectral clustering; worse still, the low-rank minimization is enforced to achieve the data correlation consensus among all views, failing to flexibly preserve the local manifold structure for each view. In this paper, 1) we propose a multi-graph laplacian regularized LRR with each graph laplacian corresponding to one view to characterize its local manifold structure. 2) Instead of directly enforcing the low-rank minimization among all views for correlation consensus, we separately impose low-rank constraint on each view, coupled with a mutual structural consensus constraint, where it is able to not only well preserve the local manifold structure but also serve as a constraint for that from other views, which iteratively makes the views more agreeable. Extensive experiments on real-world multi-view data sets demonstrate its superiority.
