Saliency-Aware Regularized Quantization Calibration for Large Language Models

Post-training quantization (PTQ) is an effective approach for deploying large language models (LLMs) under memory and latency constraints. Most existing PTQ methods determine quantization parameters by minimizing a layer-wise reconstruction error on a predetermined calibration dataset, usually optimized via either scale search or Gram-based methods. However, from the perspective of generalization risk, existing calibration objectives of PTQ based only on empirical reconstruction error on limited or unrepresentative calibration data could move the quantized weights away from the original weights. This may cause the generalization risk to diverge, potentially degrading downstream performance. To address this issue, we propose \emph{Saliency-Aware Regularized Quantization Calibration} (SARQC) a unified framework that augments the standard PTQ objective with a saliency-aware regularization term. This term encourages quantized weights to stay close to the original weights during calibration, leading to improved generalization during inference. SARQC integrates seamlessly into existing PTQ pipelines, enhancing both scale search and Gram-based methods under a unified formulation. Extensive experiments on dense and Mixture-of-Experts LLMs demonstrate consistent improvements in perplexity and zero-shot accuracy, without additional computational overhead during inference.

Intelligent Navigation and Obstacle-Aware Fabrication for Mobile Additive Manufacturing Systems

As the demand for mass customization increases, manufacturing systems must become more flexible and adaptable to produce personalized products efficiently. Additive manufacturing (AM) enhances production adaptability by enabling on-demand fabrication of customized components directly from digital models, but its flexibility remains constrained by fixed equipment layouts. Integrating mobile robots addresses this limitation by allowing manufacturing resources to move and adapt to changing production requirements. Mobile AM Robots (MAMbots) combine AM with mobile robotics to produce and transport components within dynamic manufacturing environments. However, the dynamic manufacturing environments introduce challenges for MAMbots. Disturbances such as obstacles and uneven terrain can disrupt navigation stability, which in turn affects printing accuracy and surface quality. This work proposes a universal mobile printing-and-delivery platform that couples navigation and material deposition, addressing the limitations of earlier frameworks that treated these processes separately. A real-time control framework is developed to plan and control the robot's navigation, ensuring safe motion, obstacle avoidance, and path stability while maintaining print quality. The closed-loop integration of sensing, mobility, and manufacturing provides real-time feedback for motion and process control, enabling MAMbots to make autonomous decisions in dynamic environments. The framework is validated through simulations and real-world experiments that test its adaptability to trajectory variations and external disturbances. Coupled navigation and printing together enable MAMbots to plan safe, adaptive trajectories, improving flexibility and adaptability in manufacturing.

Deep Generative Demand Learning for Newsvendor and Pricing

We consider data-driven inventory and pricing decisions in the feature-based newsvendor problem, where demand is influenced by both price and contextual features and is modeled without any structural assumptions. The unknown demand distribution results in a challenging conditional stochastic optimization problem, further complicated by decision-dependent uncertainty and the integration of features. Inspired by recent advances in deep generative learning, we propose a novel approach leveraging conditional deep generative models (cDGMs) to address these challenges. cDGMs learn the demand distribution and generate probabilistic demand forecasts conditioned on price and features. This generative approach enables accurate profit estimation and supports the design of algorithms for two key objectives: (1) optimizing inventory for arbitrary prices, and (2) jointly determining optimal pricing and inventory levels. We provide theoretical guarantees for our approach, including the consistency of profit estimation and convergence of our decisions to the optimal solution. Extensive simulations-ranging from simple to complex scenarios, including one involving textual features-and a real-world case study demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach. Our method opens a new paradigm in management science and operations research, is adaptable to extensions of the newsvendor and pricing problems, and holds potential for solving other conditional stochastic optimization problems.
