DMD Prediction of MIMO Channel Using Tucker Decomposition

Accurate channel state information (CSI) prediction is crucial for next-generation multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication systems. Classical prediction methods often become inefficient for high-dimensional and rapidly time-varying channels. To improve prediction efficiency, it is essential to exploit the inherent low-rank tensor structure of the MIMO channel. Motivated by this observation, we propose a dynamic mode decomposition (DMD)-based prediction framework operating on the low-dimensional core tensors obtained via a Tucker decomposition. The proposed method predicts reduced-order channel cores, significantly lowering computational complexity. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach preserves the dominant channel dynamics and achieves high prediction accuracy.

Application of Sensitivity Analysis Methods for Studying Neural Network Models

This study demonstrates the capabilities of several methods for analyzing the sensitivity of neural networks to perturbations of the input data and interpreting their underlying mechanisms. The investigated approaches include the Sobol global sensitivity analysis, the local sensitivity method for input pixel perturbations and the activation maximization technique. As examples, in this study we consider a small feedforward neural network for analyzing an open tabular dataset of clinical diabetes data, as well as two classical convolutional architectures, VGG-16 and ResNet-18, which are widely used in image processing and classification. Utilization of the global sensitivity analysis allows us to identify the leading input parameters of the chosen tiny neural network and reduce their number without significant loss of the accuracy. As far as global sensitivity analysis is not applicable to larger models we try the local sensitivity analysis and activation maximization method in application to the convolutional neural networks. These methods show interesting patterns for the convolutional models solving the image classification problem. All in all, we compare the results of the activation maximization method with popular Grad-CAM technique in the context of ultrasound data analysis.

Exploring specialization and sensitivity of convolutional neural networks in the context of simultaneous image augmentations

Drawing parallels with the way biological networks are studied, we adapt the treatment--control paradigm to explainable artificial intelligence research and enrich it through multi-parametric input alterations. In this study, we propose a framework for investigating the internal inference impacted by input data augmentations. The internal changes in network operation are reflected in activation changes measured by variance, which can be decomposed into components related to each augmentation, employing Sobol indices and Shapley values. These quantities enable one to visualize sensitivity to different variables and use them for guided masking of activations. In addition, we introduce a way of single-class sensitivity analysis where the candidates are filtered according to their matching to prediction bias generated by targeted damaging of the activations. Relying on the observed parallels, we assume that the developed framework can potentially be transferred to studying biological neural networks in complex environments.

LETI: Latency Estimation Tool and Investigation of Neural Networks inference on Mobile GPU

A lot of deep learning applications are desired to be run on mobile devices. Both accuracy and inference time are meaningful for a lot of them. While the number of FLOPs is usually used as a proxy for neural network latency, it may be not the best choice. In order to obtain a better approximation of latency, research community uses look-up tables of all possible layers for latency calculation for the final prediction of the inference on mobile CPU. It requires only a small number of experiments. Unfortunately, on mobile GPU this method is not applicable in a straight-forward way and shows low precision. In this work, we consider latency approximation on mobile GPU as a data and hardware-specific problem. Our main goal is to construct a convenient latency estimation tool for investigation(LETI) of neural network inference and building robust and accurate latency prediction models for each specific task. To achieve this goal, we build open-source tools which provide a convenient way to conduct massive experiments on different target devices focusing on mobile GPU. After evaluation of the dataset, we learn the regression model on experimental data and use it for future latency prediction and analysis. We experimentally demonstrate the applicability of such an approach on a subset of popular NAS-Benchmark 101 dataset and also evaluate the most popular neural network architectures for two mobile GPUs. As a result, we construct latency prediction model with good precision on the target evaluation subset. We consider LETI as a useful tool for neural architecture search or massive latency evaluation.
