Graph Neural Architecture Search (GNAS) has shown promising results in automatically designing graph neural networks. However, GNAS still requires intensive human labor with rich domain knowledge to design the search space and search strategy. In this paper, we integrate GPT-4 into GNAS and propose a new GPT-4 based Graph Neural Architecture Search method (GPT4GNAS for short). The basic idea of our method is to design a new class of prompts for GPT-4 to guide GPT-4 toward the generative task of graph neural architectures. The prompts consist of descriptions of the search space, search strategy, and search feedback of GNAS. By iteratively running GPT-4 with the prompts, GPT4GNAS generates more accurate graph neural networks with fast convergence. Experimental results show that embedding GPT-4 into GNAS outperforms the state-of-the-art GNAS methods.
This rapid communication devises a Neural Induction Machine (NeuIM) model, which pilots the use of physics-informed machine learning to enable AI-based electromagnetic transient simulations. The contributions are threefold: (1) a formation of NeuIM to represent the induction machine in phase domain; (2) a physics-informed neural network capable of capturing fast and slow IM dynamics even in the absence of data; and (3) a data-physics-integrated hybrid NeuIM approach which is adaptive to various levels of data availability. Extensive case studies validate the efficacy of NeuIM and in particular, its advantage over purely data-driven approaches.
3D multi-object tracking (3D MOT) stands as a pivotal domain within autonomous driving, experiencing a surge in scholarly interest and commercial promise over recent years. Despite its paramount significance, 3D MOT confronts a myriad of formidable challenges, encompassing abrupt alterations in object appearances, pervasive occlusion, the presence of diminutive targets, data sparsity, missed detections, and the unpredictable initiation and termination of object motion trajectories. Countless methodologies have emerged to grapple with these issues, yet 3D MOT endures as a formidable problem that warrants further exploration. This paper undertakes a comprehensive examination, assessment, and synthesis of the research landscape in this domain, remaining attuned to the latest developments in 3D MOT while suggesting prospective avenues for future investigation. Our exploration commences with a systematic exposition of key facets of 3D MOT and its associated domains, including problem delineation, classification, methodological approaches, fundamental principles, and empirical investigations. Subsequently, we categorize these methodologies into distinct groups, dissecting each group meticulously with regard to its challenges, underlying rationale, progress, merits, and demerits. Furthermore, we present a concise recapitulation of experimental metrics and offer an overview of prevalent datasets, facilitating a quantitative comparison for a more intuitive assessment. Lastly, our deliberations culminate in a discussion of the prevailing research landscape, highlighting extant challenges and charting possible directions for 3D MOT research. We present a structured and lucid road-map to guide forthcoming endeavors in this field.
Recent years have witnessed the prevailing progress of Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) in image-to-image translation. However, the success of these GAN models hinges on ponderous computational costs and labor-expensive training data. Current efficient GAN learning techniques often fall into two orthogonal aspects: i) model slimming via reduced calculation costs; ii)data/label-efficient learning with fewer training data/labels. To combine the best of both worlds, we propose a new learning paradigm, Unified GAN Compression (UGC), with a unified optimization objective to seamlessly prompt the synergy of model-efficient and label-efficient learning. UGC sets up semi-supervised-driven network architecture search and adaptive online semi-supervised distillation stages sequentially, which formulates a heterogeneous mutual learning scheme to obtain an architecture-flexible, label-efficient, and performance-excellent model.
Glioma is a prevalent brain tumor that poses a significant health risk to individuals. Accurate segmentation of brain tumor is essential for clinical diagnosis and treatment. The Segment Anything Model(SAM), released by Meta AI, is a fundamental model in image segmentation and has excellent zero-sample generalization capabilities. Thus, it is interesting to apply SAM to the task of brain tumor segmentation. In this study, we evaluated the performance of SAM on brain tumor segmentation and found that without any model fine-tuning, there is still a gap between SAM and the current state-of-the-art(SOTA) model.
Video saliency prediction and detection are thriving research domains that enable computers to simulate the distribution of visual attention akin to how humans perceiving dynamic scenes. While many approaches have crafted task-specific training paradigms for either video saliency prediction or video salient object detection tasks, few attention has been devoted to devising a generalized saliency modeling framework that seamlessly bridges both these distinct tasks. In this study, we introduce the Unified Saliency Transformer (UniST) framework, which comprehensively utilizes the essential attributes of video saliency prediction and video salient object detection. In addition to extracting representations of frame sequences, a saliency-aware transformer is designed to learn the spatio-temporal representations at progressively increased resolutions, while incorporating effective cross-scale saliency information to produce a robust representation. Furthermore, a task-specific decoder is proposed to perform the final prediction for each task. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work that explores designing a transformer structure for both saliency modeling tasks. Convincible experiments demonstrate that the proposed UniST achieves superior performance across seven challenging benchmarks for two tasks, and significantly outperforms the other state-of-the-art methods.
The recommendation ecosystem involves interactions between recommender systems(Computer) and users(Human). Orthogonal to the perspective of recommender systems, we attempt to utilize LLMs from the perspective of users and propose a more human-central recommendation framework named RAH, which consists of Recommender system, Assistant and Human. The assistant is a LLM-based and personal proxy for a human to achieve user satisfaction. The assistant plays a non-invasion role and the RAH framework can adapt to different recommender systems and user groups. Subsequently, we implement and evaluate the RAH framework for learning user personalities and proxy human feedback. The experiment shows that (1) using learn-action-critic and reflection mechanisms can lead more aligned personality and (2) our assistant can effectively proxy human feedback and help adjust recommender systems. Finally, we discuss further strategies in the RAH framework to address human-central concerns including user control, privacy and fairness.
Due to the flexible representation of arbitrary-shaped scene text and simple pipeline, bottom-up segmentation-based methods begin to be mainstream in real-time scene text detection. Despite great progress, these methods show deficiencies in robustness and still suffer from false positives and instance adhesion. Different from existing methods which integrate multiple-granularity features or multiple outputs, we resort to the perspective of representation learning in which auxiliary tasks are utilized to enable the encoder to jointly learn robust features with the main task of per-pixel classification during optimization. For semantic representation learning, we propose global-dense semantic contrast (GDSC), in which a vector is extracted for global semantic representation, then used to perform element-wise contrast with the dense grid features. To learn instance-aware representation, we propose to combine top-down modeling (TDM) with the bottom-up framework to provide implicit instance-level clues for the encoder. With the proposed GDSC and TDM, the encoder network learns stronger representation without introducing any parameters and computations during inference. Equipped with a very light decoder, the detector can achieve more robust real-time scene text detection. Experimental results on four public datasets show that the proposed method can outperform or be comparable to the state-of-the-art on both accuracy and speed. Specifically, the proposed method achieves 87.2% F-measure with 48.2 FPS on Total-Text and 89.6% F-measure with 36.9 FPS on MSRA-TD500 on a single GeForce RTX 2080 Ti GPU.
Sequential recommendation demonstrates the capability to recommend items by modeling the sequential behavior of users. Traditional methods typically treat users as sequences of items, overlooking the collaborative relationships among them. Graph-based methods incorporate collaborative information by utilizing the user-item interaction graph. However, these methods sometimes face challenges in terms of time complexity and computational efficiency. To address these limitations, this paper presents AutoSeqRec, an incremental recommendation model specifically designed for sequential recommendation tasks. AutoSeqRec is based on autoencoders and consists of an encoder and three decoders within the autoencoder architecture. These components consider both the user-item interaction matrix and the rows and columns of the item transition matrix. The reconstruction of the user-item interaction matrix captures user long-term preferences through collaborative filtering. In addition, the rows and columns of the item transition matrix represent the item out-degree and in-degree hopping behavior, which allows for modeling the user's short-term interests. When making incremental recommendations, only the input matrices need to be updated, without the need to update parameters, which makes AutoSeqRec very efficient. Comprehensive evaluations demonstrate that AutoSeqRec outperforms existing methods in terms of accuracy, while showcasing its robustness and efficiency.
Self-supervised sound source localization is usually challenged by the modality inconsistency. In recent studies, contrastive learning based strategies have shown promising to establish such a consistent correspondence between audio and sound sources in visual scenarios. Unfortunately, the insufficient attention to the heterogeneity influence in the different modality features still limits this scheme to be further improved, which also becomes the motivation of our work. In this study, an Induction Network is proposed to bridge the modality gap more effectively. By decoupling the gradients of visual and audio modalities, the discriminative visual representations of sound sources can be learned with the designed Induction Vector in a bootstrap manner, which also enables the audio modality to be aligned with the visual modality consistently. In addition to a visual weighted contrastive loss, an adaptive threshold selection strategy is introduced to enhance the robustness of the Induction Network. Substantial experiments conducted on SoundNet-Flickr and VGG-Sound Source datasets have demonstrated a superior performance compared to other state-of-the-art works in different challenging scenarios.
